Hiking, Biking, Horseback Riding, and Camping. OH MY

What a busy weekend Joey had. First we drove out to Bass River Resort. We set up our campsite with tent, overhang tarp, brought wood for fire. After we got set up we decided to take the mountain bike out and with Joey sitting in his new front basket we did a 7 mile bike ride with a 400 foot elevation change in 2 miles. We even hit a top speed of 33.8 miles an hour on the road back into Bass. After that a couple of friends made it there so 4 of us and 2 dogs decide to do a little over 8 miles on the Ozark Trail. Along the trail we came across some horseback riders and they even took Joey for a ride on one of the horses. We also came a across a morel mushroom, I told Joey to smell it real good so he could find more in the future. We got back drove into town for dinner and then back to camp with a full fire around the campfire. Joey slept in the one man tent with me and layed across my legs all night long. Early the next morning we headed out to the Ozark Trail and worked on repairing and re-routing a new section of the Ozark Trail. Once back in camp I decided to break down tent and pack car for it is supposed to rain all night, so I thought I would by-pass the wet tent and choose warm bed at home instead.

Joey Gets a Hair Cut.

Well Joey hair was getting super long again so we needed to get a complete overhaul. He did really well and feels so much better with his hair short. We kept the black very short and let the golden stay fairly long. We did clip the golden on his legs to be even with the ground instead of dragging on the ground.

A walk in the Springtime.

So Joey and I were walking around this spring a we came across a patch of May Apple plants. I remember as a kid I would pick a bunch of these and hold them together as if I had made an umbrella.

A Day with Momma and around the House

Well, Joey got to spend the day with momma. She took him with her to work today because he had a little bit of a restless night. First off, we have had a red fox coming around the house the last few nights. If you have never heard a red fox cry or bawl at night you have no idea what I am talking about. Lets just say it is something between a baby screaming after getting stuck by a pin, and two cats mating. We had the sliding door in our bedroom open to let in some spring air in the middle of the night, but that also allowed the sound of the red fox to carry right into our bedroom. Well Joey hears that about 3am and had to let us know there was something out there that should not be. Well I got up to close the door and got him to hush and go back to sleep on the end of our bed. About 4am my wife wakes me up and said Joey is itching like crazy, I think he has more tics on him. Well I got up and took Joey downstairs got my eyeglasses on and my lighted tweezers and found 3 more on him. He went back to bed with me and I was able to get a few more hours of sleep before I had to go to work. I love him. My son came over during thanksgiving and when he walked in he saw Joey's toys all over the living room floor and says "Geez dad you never let me leave my toys on the floor like this!" I say to him " David you never had this many toys when you were little." I told my daughter she needs to hurry up and have us a grandbaby because momma is going to spend all our extra money on toys for Joey. It seems like when he gets a new stuff toy that squeaks he is on a mission to tear it open and get the squeaker out of it leaving stuffing all over the house. Well at least it is not my shoes or my furniture.

Morel Mushroom Hunting

It got over 70 degrees today so Joey and I decided to go see if we could find any Morel Mushrooms. We decided to go to Robertsville State Park. We bushwacked about 4.5 miles through the wooded area trying to find the elusive Morel. We came across one mushroom that was not a morel so we left it alone. We did come across one live turtle, 3 deers, 1 snake, and we did find 6 empty turtle shells, and we came across a foot, leg, and hip of a deer skeleton. It got pretty warm so we made it a short hike. As I was petting Joey tonight I found out he brought home some wildlife also. I found 16 tics on him. He was pretty good at letting me pick them off of him. Crazy thing we put a tic repel gel on him last Sunday that says will last a month! What a waste of money that stuff is.

Welcome to the Where's Joey Blog?

Hi all, This is my first try at blogging. I acquired a Yorkie male pup last June. We name him Joey. His mom was a full breed yorkie and his dad was a Lhasa. His mom was a 6 pounder. Joey had 2 sisters from that litter. His two sisters are both under 6 pounds, but Joey is at 12 pounds and he is 11 months old. I am a bit of an adventurer and have been taking Joey with me on my outings. After posting some pictures of our Adventures, I had a good friend suggested I start posting a Where's Joey on Facebook. So I started taking pictures of Joey in places that the two of us have traveled and got quite a few responses from my friends on facebook guessing where Joey was. I am doing this Blog with the thought of recording our outings together. I am wanting to record the outings Joey and I do to remind people they too, can go on these outings. (If a little dog like Joey can do it, than you can too). I am not much of a writer, I am not very poetic, either. I will try to be entertaining, I will try to keep you updated as frequently as we do our adventures.
